Missing the Runner’s High

In the last 4 weeks I have only ran 12 miles. Yup you read that right 12 miles, during what is suppose to be marathon training.

The nagging hip pain I have been struggling with is now always nagging, not just when I am running. Last week I went on my longest run without stopping and it was only a whopping 2 miles.

I am very discouraged that I will not be able to run my Spring marathon (I haven’t said that out loud yet), but I am going to try my best to get better in the next 6 weeks.

In the mean time I am trying to fill the void of running with swimming and biking which has helped my sanity some, but I am still missing the Runner’s High. Monday after my swim lesson, I told the instructor that I wish I got the Runner’s High from swimming. He assured me that I would get it sooner or later, but I am still a little skeptical.

I’ll keep swimming and hopefully one day I get a “Swimmer’s High”, till then I will swim and just get sore arms and dry skin.
